These are openings in the coral reef, the main points of exchange between the lagoon and the ocean. They are the passageway for many species when others have settled there.
Life is usually concentrated in the passes. You can meet all sorts of species, trevally, barracuda, tuna, bonito, sharks, etc. It is also here that we have the best chance of finding large schools of fish.
On the peninsula, the currents are never strong and you can dive there with both incoming and outgoing currents.
Visibility can be excellent (especially outside the rainy season).
The red pass
A first step at -40m faces the blue of the ocean. It rises gently towards the lagoon to a second step located at -25m. Life is sometimes very abundant there.

Pass B
The step of this pass is at -30m, in the middle stands a sect that goes back to -10m around which life is concentrated. One of the most fishy dives on the peninsula.

The mom pass
The dive begins at the corner of this pass then we follow the small drop-off which enters the lagoon. The diving is often full of fish, the quantity of black triggerfish and blue triggerfish is just mind-blowing. This "fish soup" sensation is further exaggerated when the other species mix with the triggerfish.
During the dive you can also venture towards the middle of the pass to find a -30m bottom pierced with holes and crevices to look for hidden fish or nurse sharks resting while waiting to see other fish pass through the blue above our heads.

The pass of 2 secs
Two secs in the middle of a pass. You can easily pass from one to the other taking advantage of the relief and the fauna they shelter. From -15m a pretty coral garden forms.

The Floch pass
Platax, sharks, trevallies, schools of perch, fusiliers, mackerel trevallies, this is one of the richest passes on the peninsula. The current is never very strong there, which makes it all the more pleasant to go through.

Pueu pass
This pass is a very clear break about sixty meters long in the reef. Very full of fish, it is home to a varied fauna and surprise encounters are not uncommon. The angles of this pass are also very rich in fish and present a magnificent coral. One of the most fishy dives on the peninsula.

Accessible from level 2 for the pass, from N1 for the angles
The 12 M pass
Dive into this pass along the step located at a depth of -35m. The site is full of fish and offers some nice surprises coming or going from the sea.

The Tautira pass
This pass with vertical walls covered with yellow gorgonians is home to a wide variety of fauna. Whether the current is incoming or outgoing, the pass is passable and allows divers to let themselves be carried effortlessly.
