OBSERVE WITHOUT DISTURBING |
From September to the end of November (the exact dates vary depending on the year) come watch the humpback whales on the Tahiti peninsula. You will taste the luxury of being alone at sea with these gentle giants.
To spot the animals, we rely on the seasoned eye of our experienced guides, but not only... Underwater, sounds travel 5 times faster than in the air, humpback whales can communicate with each other on tens of kilometers away. With the right equipment you can hear them and enjoy their magnificent songs (only the males sing). Listening to a concerto of whales is already a unique experience, but acoustic equipment can do even more, it helps us to determine the origin of the sounds emitted by cetaceans and thus helps us to find them. For this we use a directional hydrophone, a real scientific tool.
Live a unique experience with our team of enthusiasts, they will share with you their knowledge of Megaptera throughout the trip, give you key information on whales, their way of life, their behavior. Educational tools are also available on board the boat with photos and explanations to enrich your knowledge and help you identify the animals.
If the sea conditions and the animals allow it, it is possible to get into the water to be approached by the whales. A guide will accompany you in the water after reminding you of the safety instructions and rules of approach.
In the meantime just remember this: Cetaceans are at home in the ocean, they are wild animals that should be approached with respect and sensitivity. The golden rule... discretion.
We scrupulously respect the rules for approaching cetaceans set up by the Polynesian environment department (DIREN). If we want this activity to continue for a long time, let's act respectfully.
